The first system available on the market is the X-Type Tension banner.

As you might expect from the name, the X-Type Tension budget roller banner is simply a sheet of high density PVC substrate that is attached to an X shaped aluminium frame. It is the tension of the banner being drawn over the aluminium frame which helps to hold the budget roller banners into place. Aluminium eyelets are fitted into the corners of the banner when it is produced, which allows you to rest assured knowing the tension from the frame is not going to cause damage to your high quality graphics with regular use. One of the best things about this system is its reusability. As the system is simply tied to the frame, you can order a new banner and replace your old one without having to order a whole new system, saving you money.

The X-Type Tension budget roller banner has only one limitation, this is the fact that it is not a free standing display, so you will need to make sure you have a wall or fixture to attach it to. It requires only one person to set it up and rolls down into a small canvas carry case for simple transportation and storage. The banner has no moving parts and so there is very little to go wrong, it is the cheapest and simplest banner on the market today.

The second type of roller banners which are incredibly popular with all different kinds of business are the Solo budget roller banners. This banner is slightly more expensive than the X-Type Tension banner, but it does have a little more to offer in return.

Like the Tension banner, the Solo is made up of an aluminium frame to which your high quality image or text is attached to, using tension from the frame to hold the banner in place. It too comes with a canvas carrying case for simple storage and transportation, but it has the added feature of a stand allowing it to standalone.  This means you no longer need a fixture to attach it to as it comes with a telescopic pole which extends to act as a third leg, almost like a tri-pod structure.

This is great when your display is going to be used in a shopping centre, market or even at a trade event or exhibition as it allows you the freedom to position the budget roller banner pretty much anywhere you like.

When you’re budget is not so tight, or you are looking for an advertising display which is really going to make an impression, the quality roller banners on the market today can do just that. Unlike the cheap or budget roller banner systems, roller banners do not have to be attached to a frame. The first roller banner system is the Grasshopper Roller Banner.

This banner comes as a long, thin aluminium case that weighs around 5kg, which acts as both a protective housing for transportation and storage, but also doubles up as a stand. The text and graphics you choose can be printed to a very high resolution if you go to the right printers so these banners are lightweight, durable and professional looking. Your banner is printed onto a 440 micron light-stop PVC substrate which is slightly more rigid than the material used in the X-Type budget roller banners.

Roller banners like the Grasshopper can be set up by a single person with ease, which means you no longer need a team of staff to set up your advertising display, even if you are using a number of different roller banners. To set up the banner you simply twist out the feet on the aluminium housing, then roll out your banner and secure it in place using the bungee pole provided. As these roller banners are made from a 440 micron PVC substrate they are strong and durable, featuring a scratch and scuff resistant coating to ensure your banners will last even when being used frequently.

The second type of quality roller banner is the Orient Roller banner. This roller banner system is the most expensive of the roller banners, but it does add a certain je ne sais quoi, as the French might say. The Orient roller banners are much like the Grasshopper in the fact it is printed on a 440 micron PVC substrate, so it is just as durable and hardwearing. The Orient has the most professional looing design, with an aluminium base that has no need for twist out feet. Both of these banners can be printed to 1440dpi and offer a more professional looking banner than the budget roller banners.

Which Roller Banner should I use?

These various roller banner systems can be used in a number of different situations, some designs are more suited to certain situations. The budget roller banners are very handy if your display is only going to be temporary, say for instance in advertising special deals and offers for potential customers. As these deals and offers will probably be running for a limited time, the budget option will ensure you are not having to pay for a full banner with the changing offers, you can simply replace the banner itself and keep the same frame. These will often be seen outside high street shops or hung in shop windows for this reason.

With the right inks all of these roller banner systems are waterproof and weather proof, but they are also a lot more rigid and so won’t flap about in a breeze so they are ideal for outdoor use too.
